Founded in 1978, Fountain Powerboats started with a vision to build " the fastest, smoothest, safest and best-handling boats on the water." More than 25 years later, Fountain has in its fleet a variety of offshore sport boats, sport fishing boats and sport cruisers. These boats target the recreational powerboat segment.
Fountain's executive offices and manufacturing facilities lie on 66 acres of land along the Pamlico River in Beaufort County, North Carolina. Their proximity to the coast serves the company very well as North Carolina's sounds, rivers and the Atlantic Ocean provide Fountain Powerboats the perfect venue to test each and every boat that they design and manufacture. The coastal location ensures high quality because Fountain has in its disposal all the needed components for an ideal research and development laboratory.
While other boat builders rely only on computers to test their new designs, Fountain combines its computer-generated findings with the real test of the waters. Instead of putting their new boat designs in a test tank as most landlocked builders do, Fountain boats are brought to the Pamlico River. Fountain engineers understand that computers cannot always reconstruct the unpredictable movements of water and waves.
Fountain's manufacturing facilities are housed in 12 buildings totaling more than 235,0000 square feet. These facilities can accommodate the construction of 30 to 40 boats at one time.
The company has earned ISO 9001 certification, which applies a design and manufacturing process that includes extensive documentation of all systems for best quality control. Fountain also builds most of the components used on its boats. It is also very proactive in using new technologies to improve the design and building of its boats.
