JC pontoon boats are not your off-the-rack type of boats. Built by J.C. Manufacturing, Inc., JC pontoon boats are not mass-produced but are made especially according to what the customer or dealer wants. J.C. Manufacturing, Inc., was founded in July 1976 North Webster, Indiana by John Cripe and Jerry Amsdem. Today, however, it is owned and operated by John's son Kim and Jerry Amsdem. Ever since it started, the company's vision was to build high quality pontoon boats. And JC Manufacturing continues to live up to its vision of building boats that are of high quality and performance. Unlike most boat manufacturers that rely on third-party suppliers for the materials used for their boats, JC Manufacturing makes its own major components. This ensures the company that it is able to achieve consistent quality for its boats by using only the best components and having complete control of the production process. Major components that go into the manufacturing of JC pontoon boats include rail systems, upholstery, pontoon tubes, and even bimini tops. With the use of these in-house components, JC is able to take full control of the final quality of each pontoon boat. JC's pontoon lines Currently, JC has at least 32 models for its four product lines of pontoon boats. For its entry-level boat, JC offers the sporty NepToon line. The SunToon line, on the other hand, has a more luxurious and traditional appeal. The TriToon line offers amazing and unique features. The Evolution line will really catch attention for its exquisite look and superb performance. The JC NepToon line comes with four fishing floor plans as well as family cruising designs. There are also four lengths to choose from: 19, 21, 23 and 25 feet. These boats come in either the standard two or performance three SuperTube design. Made of .091-aluminum, the U-shaped SuperTube provides more buoyancy and less drag than a 25-inch diameter tube. The U-Shaped tube, based on a canoe shape or the shape used in catamaran sailboats, is considered more efficient through the water than a cylinder tube. SunToons, considered as premium boats, also come in either the standard twin tubes or performance triple tubes, available in 21, 23 and 25 inches. Standard features include Sirius satellite radio, GPS enabled fish locator, and white powder coated rails. When JC first developed the three-tube hull design more than twenty years ago, the company set a standard in the boat manufacturing industry, particularly in the pontoon market. JC's TriToon hull design offered higher level of acceleration and better handling and stability. The TriToon uses a .125 gauge aluminum trihull design to produce a smooth ride. The TriToon 246 Boat Test The TriToon 246 is a sleek-looking pontoon with the type of curves and modern style that will make you wonder whether you’re really looking at a pontoon. "Pushing the Envelope" The JC TriToon 246 I/O pushes performance and style to new heights for a pontoon A couple of years ago we ran a feature story on how the lines between deckboats and runabouts were beginning to blur in terms of style, features and function. Now it is fair to say that the lines between runabouts and pontoons are likewise beginning to blur with elements typical of sporty bowriders continually creeping into pontoon design. Our recent test of the JC TriToon 246 I/O more than drives this point home. At a Glance: Name: JC Manufacturing, Inc.
